My
Story

Get to Know Me

I am a regular Millennial with a job, bills and responsibilities. Feeling that my decision has been determined by the ever changing society. However, at some point I realized I was lost. Traveling used to be my passion, my way to connect with myself, but because of how life is hitting all of the struggling millennials out there, I stopped. I left my dreams and passions on a shelf to be able to keep up with life. This blog is an attempt to get back, and be faithful to who I am, and what I love.

Chronicles of the Struggling Millennial

Life as a millennial in today's society is a rollercoaster ride, filled with both exhilarating highs and daunting lows. We are the generation faced with the ever-evolving challenges of a rapidly changing world, struggling to find our footing amidst a sea of uncertainties. From financial pressures to societal expectations, this blog post delves into the unique struggles that millennials encounter and the resilience that defines our generation.

1. The Burden of Student Debt

For many millennials, pursuing higher education was an investment in our future. However, this dream often comes with the heavy burden of student debt. Straddled with loan repayments and mounting interest rates, we find ourselves delaying major life decisions like buying a home or starting a family. The weight of this financial burden can be suffocating, leaving us to question if our dreams will ever become a reality.

2. The Gig Economy and Job Insecurity

Gone are the days of traditional 9-to-5 jobs with long-term stability. Instead, millennials are often thrust into the gig economy, facing job insecurity and the constant struggle to stay afloat. Contract work and freelancing may offer flexibility, but they lack the security and benefits that come with a permanent job. The pressure to constantly hustle for work and financial stability can lead to burnout and a sense of unfulfillment.

3. Mental Health Struggles

Millennials are becoming increasingly open about mental health, breaking the stigma surrounding it. The stressors of modern life, coupled with the pressure to portray a perfect life on social media, can take a toll on our mental well-being. We grapple with anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation, often seeking solace in a society that doesn't always understand the depth of our struggles.

4. Balancing Work and Personal Life

Achieving a work-life balance seems like an elusive goal for millennials. The line between work and personal life blurs as technology keeps us connected 24/7. Burnout becomes a common companion as we try to juggle personal aspirations, family commitments, and the demands of our careers. Finding time for self-care and meaningful connections becomes a constant challenge.

5. The Housing Affordability Crisis

Owning a home, once considered a rite of passage, now feels like an unattainable dream for many millennials. Soaring property prices and stagnant wages make it difficult to save for a down payment, leaving us stuck in the cycle of renting and unable to establish a sense of stability and security.

6. The Quest for Purpose and Meaning

In a world brimming with choices, we millennials are constantly on the quest for purpose and meaning in our lives. The pressure to find our passion and make a difference can be overwhelming. Many of us switch careers or take unconventional paths in pursuit of a more fulfilling life, even if it means facing criticism from those who don't understand our unconventional choices.

Struggling as a millennial in today's society is not an isolated experience; it is a collective journey that defines our generation. But amidst the struggles, we find strength in our resilience, adaptability, and determination to create a better future for ourselves and others. We continue to challenge societal norms and fight for a more inclusive and compassionate world.

If you are a millennial facing these struggles, know that you are not alone. Reach out to your peers, seek support from loved ones, and remember that it's okay to take one step at a time. At the very least, you have this blog. Embrace your uniqueness, be kind to yourself, and hold onto the hope that through perseverance and solidarity, we can navigate the storm together and emerge stronger on the other side. After all, it is our struggles that shape us, and as millennials, we are forging a path that will pave the way for generations to come.

Do not forget to still enjoy life and find a path and way to ensure practicing "the art of doing nothing" (while traveling, enjoying a book, spending time with yourself practicing mindfulness, and so many others).... but always remember... you are not alone.
